Create and Manage Fund Types

Overview

Marketing Development Funds (MDF) can be granted to partners by suppliers to support sales and marketing efforts and to develop new business. The partner might use the funds to hire Providers to build custom marketing activities or pay for meals, entertainment, social outings, sports outings, team meetings, conferences, and more.

Fund Types allow you to categorize these funds and track how they are being spent. 

Once you have set up your Fund Types, you can choose them when managing MDF information via either of these processes:

  • Single partner - assign funds to the partner in the Funding Details page of their partner account. For more information, see Managing a Partner's MDF Funds.
  • Multiple partners / funds - bulk upload and allocate MDF funds in the Partner Management > MDF > Funding Summary page. For more information, see Funding Summary.

Note

Take care when creating Fund Types, and they can't currently be deleted.

Before You Begin

If the MDF Fund Management feature is not available, submit a request to your Unifyr One team to have it enabled.

How to Create a Fund Type

  1. Navigate to Partner Management > MDF > Fund Types.
  2. Click Create Fund Type.
  3. Provide the following information, as required:

    Parameter Type Description
    Name Text Provide a user-friendly name for this fund type.
    Description Text [Optional] Use this field to provide useful information about this fund to facilitate management.
    Reimbursement Percentage Dropdown List [Optional] Select the percentage (5% - 100%) of eligible costs that will be reimbursed from this fund.
    Default Fund Type Checkbox

    [Optional] Whether to designate this Fund Type as the Default Fund Type when adding/importing new funds.

    If the setting is enabled for a Fund Type, the type will automatically be applied when uploading/adding funds:

    • When bulk uploading fund information in Partner Management > MDF > Funding Summary - if a Fund Type is not designated during the import, this Fund Type will be applied.
    • When allocating a fund to a partner in their Funding Details page - the fund will automatically be allocated to this Fund Type. You won't need to select one.
    Allows Partner to Request Funds Checkbox

    Whether partners should request MDF funds through the partner portal.

    Warning

    If setting is enabled, you will not be able to allocate ANY MDF to partners via Unifyr One Admin. Partners will be responsible for requesting all necessary funds in the partner portal.

  4. Click Apply.

How to Edit a Fund Type

  1. Navigate to Partner Management > Fund Types.
  2. Click the name of the Fund Type you wish to edit.
  3. Make changes as required to any of the available fields.
  4. Click Apply.

Note

Edits to Fund Types will only apply to future fund usage.
