Allowing Prospective Partners to Register

The first priority for any channel program is to enrol partners. The entire purpose of a channel program is to recruit partners who will sell on your behalf. The strategy and objectives of your recruitment plan will have been described as part of the Channel Success Plan.

Unifyr One supports two approaches to partner recruitment; inviting prospective partners to join and allowing prospective partners to self-register from your portal. This article describes the self-registration options.

For information about the invitation process, see Inviting New Partners.

The Logged Out view of your partner portal is a great place to promote your channel program to prospective partners. The content you publish here can describe the benefits and incentives of participating in your channel program.

The Logged Out view usually includes a link or button for partners to register with you. You can add the link to any custom page in the portal. When a visitor clicks this link, they are taken to the partner registration form. Once they submit their application, they will be shown an acknowledgment page with instructions for the next steps.

Unifyr One provides a basic registration form (Partner Registration Portal) that captures the information that is required as a minimum for the effective management of your partner database - company name, and individual user's email address, and first and last name. You can request additional information by adding your Custom Fields to the form. for more information, see Form Configuration.

Your recruitment plan will determine whether applicants are auto-approved as partners (called Auto Onboarding in Unifyr One) or if a manual review and approval are required. For more information about the approval strategies offered in Unifyr One, see About Pending Partners.

If approvals are required, follow the Approve a Partner's Pending Registration procedure to finalize the registration.

Find Partners option for new partner users

You can offer a Find Partners option for registration. This will allow potential partners to view a list of partner accounts that match the domain of their email address and choose to join one. This option can also be added to the Logged Out view of your portal.

Before You Begin

Discuss these options with your Unifyr One team:

Auto-Approve New Partner Users Based on Email Domain

As a supplier, you can allow your partners to have new user registrations to their partner account auto-approved, if the user’s email address is from the same domain as all the existing users in the partner account. If the partner sets up this option, any new registrations will be effective immediately, they do not need to wait for the partner account administrator to approve them. The user will receive their welcome email, inviting them to set up a password to log in to the portal.

Auto-approval of partner registrations must be enabled on your system. Submit a request to your Unifyr One team if you want to provide it for your partners.

If the feature is enabled, a partner admin sees the User Auto-Approval page in their Account Settings. They can enable/disable auto-approval here.

Certain conditions must be met for a partner to enable the auto-approval option for their account:

  • The partner's email domain is NOT a public/generic domain (gmail.com, outlook.com, etc.) . Contact your Unifyr One team if you need a full list of restricted domains.
  • The partner's email domain is NOT used by any other partner account
  • The partner's email domain is NOT used by any Unifyr internal accounts
  • All existing users in the partner account share the same email domain (no multi-domain users exist in the account)

The admin sees an advisory message if their email domain is not eligible for auto-approval.
