Custom Domain

Important

Suppliers are responsible for renewing their SSL Certificates when they are set to expire. Designated recipients will receive email notifications and a red banner will display at the top of your Unifyr One Admin account when it’s time to update the SSL Certificate. If the SSL Certificate is not updated by the expiration date, partners may be unable to access the partner portal. See the Update an Expiring SSL Certificate section below for instructions.

Overview

Unifyr One allows you to customize the web address that people will use to access your partner portal. This is called a Custom Domain.

Once set up, any communications that include a link will point to the new address. The original Unifyr One Portal address will continue to work.

Important

If you have SSO in place, please work with your Unifyr One team to make any domain changes. Do not make changes yourself.

Intended Audience: Channel Marketing Directors and Channel Operations Managers

Prerequisites

Before you can configure the Custom Domain of your partner portal, you must have the following:

  • A chosen subdomain or domain that you control.  Typically this is a subdomain under your corporate domain. For example: partners.corporatedomain.com
  • An SSL Certificate which will cover the chosen URL. The certificate should be available in PEM format, as you will need to cut and paste the certificate body, private key, and certificate chain into the provided form.
  • Someone available to make DNS changes within your organization.

Set Up a Custom Domain

The steps below explain how to define a branded URL in Unifyr One.

Before starting this procedure, ensure that you have met the prerequisites outlined in the Prerequisites section of this article. You will need information from your organization's webmaster to continue.

  1. Navigate to Partner PortalSite Configuration.
  2. Click Settings.

  3. Go to the Custom Domain tab in the left sidebar.
  4. In Custom Domain, provide this information:

    Parameter  Type  Description
    Custom Domain  Text

[Optional] Enter the unique, user-friendly URL. Make sure it conforms to the prerequisites outlined in the Prerequisites section of this article.

When you enter a valid Custom Domain URL, you will need to add information from your SSL/TLS certificate. An SSL Certificate provides critical data security and must be issued from a trusted Certificate Authority (CA).

    Note

Typically, you will receive two files from the Certificate Provider - the Certificate File and the Certificate Chain. You should already have the Private Key from when you created the Certificate Request with your Provider.

    SSL/TLS Certificate

The information in these three fields will be stored but not displayed after entry for security reasons. This is part of the validation token that will help keep the site secure.

    Certificate Body Text

Enter the contents of the Certificate file.

Copy and paste in all the text from the file, as shown:

    Certificate_Body_example.png

    Private Key Text

Enter the contents of the Private Key file.

A Private Key creates a digital signature that is used to secure and verify connections to your partner portal. It should have been provided when you made a Certificate Request to your Provider.

Copy and paste in all the text from the file, as shown:

    Private_Key_example.png

    Certificate Chain Text

Enter the content of the Certificate Chain file.

A Certificate Chain is a list of SSL certificates ordered by the issuing Certificate Authorities (CA). You may need to download it from your Certificate Provider or it may be issued with the Certificate. Typically, this file will include the Certificate Authority's name.

Copy and paste in all the text from the file.

    Expiry Notification Text

Enter the email addresses that should receive notifications when your SSL certificate is approaching expiry.

Use a comma separated list of addresses.

For more information about the notification, see SSL Certificate Expiration Notification.

  5. Click Save. The domain URL is processed - this may take up to 30 minutes.
  6. Once the URL has populated, add its CNAME to the DNS settings for your domain.

This information will be available in Custom Domain > DNS Settings when the URL processing has completed.
