Manage Site Configuration and Navigation

Overview

In Unifyr One, Site Configuration is where you will define the site navigation, information architecture, branding, available translations, and the features that will be available to your partners, including details regarding contacting Support. You might also refer to this page as the sitemap for your partner portal.

Under Partner Portal > Site Configuration, you will see two types of view:

  • Default Partner Views include the Logged In and Logged Out views that all partners will see by default.
    • The Logged In page can be viewed by partners that have logged into the site. It typically has more pages associated with it in the navigation that enable partners to leverage the partner program features you offer.

Note: you can add visibility rules to pages to restrict certain areas to specific partners or Partner Groups (see sections below).

    • The Logged Out page is seen by any visitors to your site URL, including partners that are not logged in or may not have registered. It typically includes a Login page, a Partner Registration page, an informational page about your partner program, and sometimes a Partner Locator for prospective customers to easily find partners.
  • Custom Partner Views can be built to present custom content or pages to users based on their Partner Group. If you build a Custom Partner View, that view will replace the default Logged In view for the specified partner(s) when logged into the partner portal.

admin_site_config.png

When adding to/editing a Default Partner View or a Custom Partner View, you will have these options:

  • Three main options to add/build content. You will likely use a combination of these:
    • Feature Bundles (not available with an Engage subscription) - Groups of pre-built pages around certain features in the partner portal. These groups allow you to add pages around similar functionality to your site navigation in one click. Typically, Feature Bundles include first and second-level navigation. For example, the Campaigns Feature Bundle will include the My Campaigns, Browse Campaigns, Emails, and Browse Promoted Activities feature pages.

You do not need to build these. Simply drag and drop Feature Bundles into your desired Partner View.

    • Feature Pages - Pre-built, individual pages around specific features available in the partner portal. For example, you can add the pre-built Browse Campaigns page anywhere in a Partner View.

You do not need to build these. Simply drag and drop Feature Pages into your desired Partner View.

    • Custom Pages -  Individual pages that can be custom crafted for the partner portal site, for example custom homepage or landing pages for certain sections of the portal. These pages have tremendous design flexibility and can be added to different Partner Views on the partner portal site. You can filter them so they're visible to select Partner Groups. These pages are to be used alongside Unifyr One's Feature Bundles and Pages.

You must build and activate your Custom Pages before adding them to a Partner view of the site. For more information, see Create/Edit a Custom Page.

  • Language menu

Use this menu to select a language in which to build a translated version of the view navigation, and adjust page names into local languages.

To make translated navigation for a language available in the portal, there are two levels of setting:

    • [Required] You define the list of languages the site supports in the site's Settings > Site Details page. See Branding and Configuring Languages for your Partner Portal below for more information.
    • [Optional] You can restrict a custom site view to a subset of the supported languages.

If you don't restrict the view, it will be available for all languages defined in the Site Settings.

English is the default language for every portal.

Useful Tips

  • Partner Portal menus can support up to three levels of navigation.
  • Create a logged-out portal view for visitors and potential new partners.
  • Create a logged-in portal view for current partners.
  • Name the portal pages familiar names. Here are some examples: Home for home page, Registration for the partner registration page, the campaign name for landing pages.
  • Prioritize the custom partner views so that if a partner qualifies for more than one view, they will have access to the view with the highest priority.
  • Brand the site with your organization's style - this makes it instantly recognizable to partners.
  • Add a tracking code to the footer.
  • Email prospective partners and invite them to apply to become a partner.
  • Create a registration page for pre-approved partners to self-register and start using Unifyr One.
  • You can translate your portal into up to 24 languages, with English as the default. Select the languages your portal will support and Unifyr One will automatically translate the site navigation, tooltips, and feature pages. You can provide your own translations for custom content in your site, and the portal footer. For more information, see About Translations.

Caution

The Unifyr One Partner Academy is a valuable tool for partners to quickly get the information they need to leverage their partner portal features. If you change this link, partners will no longer be able to access the Unifyr One knowledge base. If your partner community uses Unifyr One Support, we do not recommend changing this URL.

Adding a Footer to the Partner Portal

(Unifyr One Enterprise only)

You can define a custom footer using the editor. You can add links to popular social media sites or add code for Google Analytics, to track partner portal traffic.

This procedure assumes that you have previously created the site.

  1. Navigate to Partner Portal > Site Configuration.
  2. Click the site to edit if you have more than one site.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Select Footer in the left navigation bar.
  5. In the WYSIWYG editor, you can pull in any of the available content blocks to create your footer.

    • Add Merge Tags (dynamic content placeholders) to the text-based blocks to personalize the footer for your partners.

Merge tags representing custom Partner and Partner User fields are identified with a Partner - or Partner User - prefix, as applicable.

Pro Tip: We recommend that you add the Current Year merge tag so the partner portal automatically updates the displayed year on an annual basis.

      admin_portal_footer_merge_tags.png

Note: Merge tags representing custom Partner User fields are added to content with the syntax {{portaluser.field_name}}, for example {{portaluser.Preferred_Communication_Language}}.

    • Add links to the pages in your portal - use the Special links menu when editing text-based blocks.

      admin_portal_footer_special_links_menu.png

    • Add links to other content such as a list of your most recent portal posts or a Unifyr One collateral asset - use the More menu when editing text-based blocks.

      admin_portal_footer_more_menu.png

    • You can also add links to your social media accounts, the privacy policy, terms & conditions, or tracking.

For information about the options available in the WYSIWYG editor, see Create/Edit Custom Pages.

  6. In Translations, you can add translations of your footer. For more information, see About Translations.
  7. To view a list of changes that have been made to the footer, click Options > View History.

  8. Click Save.

Adding Feature Bundles/Pages to a Partner Portal

This procedure assumes you have already created a site and view. It is possible to add individual feature pages to your site, but adding bundles is the best practice approach. If you add individual feature pages, you run the risk of omitting closely related functionality and impairing the user experience.

Note

Feature bundles are not available with a Unifyr One Engage subscription - only individual feature pages.

  1. Navigate to Partner PortalSite Configuration.
  2. [Optional] Click on the site URL to open a partner portal view of the site in a new tab. This is useful to view the effect of changes to site configuration as you make them. You will need to refresh the page each time you save changes.
  3. Click on the view (Custom Partner Views or Default Partner Views) you wish to edit. By default, every site is created with two top-level pages.
  4. Click on the Feature Bundles or Feature Pages tab and find the item you wish to add to the navigation.
    • Click Feature Bundles to select feature-specific Unifyr One-defined page sets. Drag bundles onto the menu to add them as subpages to the selected view. You can use the arrows to move the pages between the three levels of the menu. You can also remove pages from the bundle if required.
    • Open the Feature Pages section to view and select individual feature pages to add to your site, using the same drag and drop process. The Feature Pages are the individual pages for the Feature Bundles.

      Example_Site_Config.png

  5. [Optional] Use the arrows to move pages in the menu level hierarchy. A site can have up to three levels in its menus:

    Example_Portal_View.png

  6. [Optional] On the right-hand side, use Page Details to change the Name for each bundle/page in the structure, as required. Editing this will change the page name on your view, but the original page name will remain in place for the partner. This is especially helpful when managing pages in a different language than your partners.

The original page name displays under the renamed page title.

  7. [Optional] On the right-hand side, use Page Details to restrict page visibility of a page by Partner Group within your view. For more information, see the Managing Page Visibility section of this article.
  8. Click Save to publish the site with the defined navigation.

Adding Custom Pages to a Partner Portal

This procedure assumes you have previously created a site and view.

For information on creating Custom Pages, see Create or Edit a Custom Page.

  4. Click on the Custom Pages tab and find the page you want to add to the navigation.

    Custom_Pages_tab.png

Note: If you're adding a custom page to the Logged Out view of the partner portal, the list only shows those custom pages that have Requires Partner Login disabled.

Click the icon_link_to_editor.png link next to the page name to go to the custom page editor.

  5. Drag the Custom Page(s) onto the menu to add them as subpages to the selected view. You can use the arrows to move the pages between the three levels of the menu.

    Note:

    • Only pages that are set to Active will be visible in the portal navigation.
    • Headers can only be moved to the third-level navigation if they include a URL.
  6. [Optional] On the right-hand side, use Page Details to change the Name for the page in the structure. Editing this will change the page name on your view, but the original page name will remain in place for the partner. This is especially helpful when managing pages in a different language than your partners.

The original page name will display underneath the renamed page title.

  7. [Optional] On the right-hand side, use Page Details to restrict page visibility of a page by Partner Group within your view. For more information, see the Managing Page Visibility section of this article.
  8. Click Save to publish the site with the defined navigation.

Link an External Page to a Partner Portal

You can link an external page in your partner portal’s navigation. Follow the steps below:

  4. At the top of the navigation panel, click New Header.

    admin_site_config_new_header.png

  5. Fill out the following Page Details:

    • Name - Add a partner-friendly name for your new navigation item.
    • URL - Paste the URL of the external page here.
    • Visibility - [Optional] Restrict page visibility of the page by Partner Group. For more information, see the Managing Page Visibility section of this article.

The new header will automatically be placed at the bottom of the navigation panel, in the first level of navigation.

  6. Drag the new navigation item to to the required location on in the navigation. You can use the arrows to move the item between the three levels of the navigation menu hierarchy.
  7. Click Save or Save and Close.

In the partner portal, when a partner clicks on this navigation item, the linked external page will open in a new browser tab.

Managing Page Visibility

Within a Partner Portal View (Custom Partner Views or Default Partner Views), you can restrict the visibility of individual pages by Partner Groups. This feature is useful for restricting individual pages to certain types of users, such as by user role or location.

Useful Tips:

  • By default, a page is visible to all users.
  • Multiple partner groups can be selected for a page's filter. If a partner is a member of any of the partner groups for the page, they will be able to view it.
  • If a top-level page is restricted for a partner group, the subpages under that page will also be restricted.
  • You can use Custom Partner Views in tandem with page visibility restrictions to drill down portal access for complex partner groups. The portal will first select the correct Custom Partner View, and then show the pages appropriate to the user based on its page visibility restrictions.

To restrict page visibility within a Partner Portal View:

  1. Navigate to Partner Portal > Site Configuration.
  2. Select the Partner Portal View you’d like to edit.
  3. Click the page for which you’d like to restrict visibility.
  4. In Page Details, under Visibility, select the Partner Group or Groups that will have access to the page.

    Page_Visibility_Dropdown.png

  5. If you're adding Courses or Certifications pages to the view, you can choose whether to enable filters on the page, based on the tags you're using for learning (LMS) content. You can also choose to deliver a subset of your training content to your partners. For more information, see Adding Courses/Certifications to the Partner Portal.
  6. Continue this process for any other pages you’d like to restrict within the selected Partner Portal View.
  7. Once you’ve completed setting your page visibility restrictions, scroll down and click Save.
  8. At the top of the page, click the dropdown next to View As. Here, you can preview the different versions of the view that will be presented to the Partner Groups that you selected for page visibility restriction.

    • If a page's visibility is restricted for the selected Partner Group, you will see a View Restricted icon to the left of the Page Name.

      admin_site_config_page_visibility_restricted.png

    • If a partner is a member of multiple Partner Groups, their menu will display all pages visible to any of their partner groups.
    • If Off is selected, you can see what the Partner Portal View would look like if no page visibility restrictions are set for the Partner Portal View.
    • If Other is selected, you will see what the Partner Portal View looks like for partners with no page visibility restrictions applied.

    admin_site_config_page_view_as.png

If a Partner Group’s definition includes additional User Segmentation Rules, only the users in the Partner Group that match those User Rules will be able to see the restricted page.

For example:

  • Partner X has users A, B, and C.
  • Partner Group Product X Partners includes Partner X and some user rules that only match User B.
  • The Campaigns page has Product X Partners as its Visibility setting in the portal site navigation.

Only user B will see the Campaigns page in the portal.

For more information, see About Partner Groups.

Adding Custom Partner Views of a Partner Portal

A Custom Partner View is a portal experience (set of pages) organized and designed for a specific partner group and/or language. Custom Partner Views work well if you’d like to create completely different portal setups for distinct segments of partners, for example to support regional differences.

Useful Tips:

  • All pages in a view are only visible to a specified partner group or groups. This allows you to display different content to authenticated users according to the groups they belong to. The view will only be shown to users who meet the view requirements.
  • The Custom Partner Views are evaluated sequentially and any user who does not meet the conditions for any of the Custom Partner Views will be shown the Default Partner View.
  • A user can still access a page outside of the view if they have the specific URL. This functionality allows suppliers to link to pages outside of the Partner Views in the Partner Portal.

This procedure assumes that you have previously created the site. To create a view of a site, do the following:

  1. Navigate to Partner Portal > Site Configuration.
  2. [Optional] Click on the site URL to open a partner portal view of the site in a new tab. This is useful to view the effect of changes to site configuration as you make them. You will need to refresh the page each time you save changes.
  3. Click Create View.
  4. In View Details, provide this information:

    • Name - The name/identifier of the custom view
    • Partner Groups - The partner group(s) that will see this view. You can use the Advanced option to create an adhoc partner group that will only be used for this view.
    • View Languages - The languages in which this view will be presented. Choose from the list of language defines in the general Site Settings. For more information, see the Branding, Languages, and Other Settings for your Partner Portal section of this article.
    • Active/Inactive - Toggle the setting to publish/unpublish your view from the partner portal. The default value is Inactive.

    Create_New_View.png

  5. Click Apply.
  6. [Optional] Use the New Header option to add headers to the site navigation. Complete this information for each one, as applicable:

    Parameter Type Description
    Name Text The header label
    URL Text

[Optional] If the header links to a web page, the URL of the page

You can use Unifyr One merge fields in the field, as placeholders for information that will be dynamically generated when a user accesses the header:

    • {{firstname}}
    • {{lastname}}
    • {{companyname}}
    • {{email}}
    • {{ssocompanyid}}
    • {{partnerexternalid}}
    • {{userid}}
    • {{userexternalid}}
Visibility Dropdown The partner group(s) that will see this header

    Note

You are permitted to add feature pages and custom pages directly to the navigation, without needing headers. In this case, the title of each page will be used as the header title in the navigation, although you can change these in the Page Details for each.

  7. Drag-and-drop Custom Pages, Feature Bundles, and/or Feature Pages into the view. You can use the arrows to move the pages between the three levels of the menu.

    Example_Site_Config.png

    Note:

    • Only pages that are set to Active will appear in the list of available pages.
    • New pages that are dragged into a view will be added to the same navigation level as the page they are placed beneath.
    • Headers can only be moved to the third-level navigation if they use a link.
  8. [Optional] Click Feature Bundles to select feature-specific predefined page sets. You can add them using the same click-and-drag approach.
  9. [Optional] Open the Feature Pages section to view and select individual feature pages to add to your site. When adding individual feature pages, consider adding the sibling page too. If you add Upcoming Posts you should add the Post History page as well. Other examples are Emails and My Emails, Browse Campaigns and My Campaigns, Browse Collateral and My Collateral
  10. [Optional] Click on each item in the navigation, and use the right-hand Page Details area to update these details:
    • Name - the name of the item as it will appear in the navigation

Editing this will change the page's name in the navigation, but the original page name will remain in place for the partner.

The original page name displays underneath the named page title in the structure.

You can use this field to add translated page names. If you want to translate the whole view navigation, including all page names and headers, into a different language, choose the required language in the language dropdown for the view before adding the translated page names. This allows you to maintain the English and non-English versions of the view.

    • URL

The URL for a link to a web page

    • Visibility

Restrict the visibility of the item to specific Partner Group(s).

  11. Click Save to save the new view.
  12. To publish this view to the partner portal, click the pencil icon next to the Custom Partner View name. Edit_Custom_View_Pencil.png
  13. In the pop-up, set the Inactive/Active toggle to Active and click Apply.

    Custom_Partner_View_Toggle.png

Note: If a user meets the conditions to view a Custom Partner View, they will not have access to the Default Partner View. Any pages that you want to make available to both Custom Partner View and Default Partner View users must be included in the structure of both. All users will see the same Logged-Out homepage.
