Overview
Once you've created a campaign you can add tactics to it. Tactics are marketing activities, including emails, website plugins, social media posts, multimedia, library resources, collateral program documents, workflows, or custom activities. Depending on the context, you may want to add multiple tactics and content types to a campaign. You can also include only a single tactic or content type in your campaign if this is what works best for you. Unifyr One is a flexible platform that meets any channel marketing needs.
Custom activities are marketing activities that are typically performed by an external provider. Custom activities can include marketing tactics like merchandising, direct mail, telemarketing, search engine optimization, event setup and management, or other services that are executed outside the partner portal. Use custom activities to manage and track these tactics in your campaigns.
You can add offerings to your custom activities so your partners can purchase services or get quotes from your approved external providers, which will help them use your marketing materials. For more information about creating and adding provider offerings to a custom activity, see Manage Provider Offerings.
Provider offerings can also be made available with a Marketplace. For more information about Marketplace, see About Marketplace. Using custom activities allows your partners to use MDF dollars on these external tactics, if you have MDF enabled on your system.

Before You Begin
- Marketing activities like custom activities work best if you have already created a campaign and a contact list. For more on creating campaigns and adding content to campaigns, see Manage Campaigns.
- If you're including provider offerings for an activity, ensure that your providers are recorded in Unifyr One. For more information, see the articles in the Providers section of the academy.

How to Create Custom Activities
To create new custom activities, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Partner Marketing > Tactics > Custom Activities.

Click Create Custom Activity.

Provide this information:
Parameter Type Description Type Drop-down The type of marketing activity that this activity represents. Internal Name Text The name that will display in Unifyr One Admin (internal only). Display Name Text The name that will display for your partners in the partner portal.
The name will also display in Marketplace, if you're using it to provide a list of activities provided by approved agencies (providers). For more information, see About Marketplace.
Description Text A description of the activity and any top-level information the partner would need to know to select it. Effective Date Begin Date Selector The date from which partners can use the activity in the partner portal. Effective Date End Date Selector The date on which the activity expires in the partner portal. Is Promoted? Check Box Suppliers can promote activities to increase partner adoption. If the Is Promoted? option is enabled, the activity will appear at the top of the Browse Custom Activities page, in a Promoted window, in the partner portal.
Use the start and end date pickers to define the period for which the activity will be promoted.
Internal Notes Text [Optional] Information about the email that is only visible to you, as a supplier.
The note will not be visible in the partner portal.
Thumbnail File Upload A thumbnail image to help users visually differentiate between different activities.
We recommend 100x110px.
The maximum file size is 2MB.
- Select Next to create the custom activity.
The custom activity now appears in your Custom Activities list. You can add detail as required. For more information, see the How to Review and Edit Custom Activity Details section of this article.
Remember to publish the custom activity to make it available to your partners. See How to Publish and Unpublish Custom Activities below.
How to Review and Edit Custom Activity Details
To review and edit your custom activities, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Partner Marketing > Custom Activities.
- Click the name of the custom activity you want to update, to open its detail view.

In this view, these options are available:
- Publish/Unpublish
Publish the custom activity to make it available to your partners. Unpublish a published custom activity to remove it from your partners' portals. For more on publishing and unpublishing, see How to Publish and Unpublish Custom Activities below.
- Archive
If your custom activity is unpublished, archive the custom activity to save it, enable the Delete function, and remove the custom activity from Unifyr One and from your partners' portals. Only archived custom activities can be deleted.
- Copy
Create a duplicate of the custom activity. The new custom activity will save as Copy of [Current Custom Activity] - rename it as required. Clicking this option will take you to the details page for the new custom activity.
- Offering
Add a provider offering (Add Offer (1st) or Add Variation (subsequent)) or review/edit the details of an provider offering if one has been already added to the custom activity. All offerings of the activity, with assigned providers, appear here. They will also be listed for the activity on the Marketplace in the partner portal (if enabled). For more information, see Manage Provider Offerings and About Marketplace.
- Edit Details
Review or edit the details of the custom activity. In the Edit Details view, you can review or edit the information you provided in the Create Custom Activities step above.
You can also apply partner filters to the custom activity and tag it with your custom content tags. For information on using partner filters, see Add Partner Filters. For information about tags, see About Tags and Taxonomy and Tag Management.
- Click Save after making any changes. You return to the activity's details view.
How to Publish and Unpublish Custom Activities
You must publish a custom activity to make it available to your partners.
To publish a custom activity:
- Navigate to Partner Marketing > Custom Activities.
- Click the name of the custom activity you want to publish, to open its detail view.

Click Publish.
Note: If you archived the custom activity, publishing is not available. You will need to unarchive before the custom activity can be republished. For more information on unarchiving, see How to Archive, Unarchive, and Delete Custom Activities below.
You can remove the custom activity from your partners’ portals by unpublishing it.
To unpublish a custom activity:
- Navigate to Partner Marketing > Custom Activities.
- Click the name of the custom activity you want to unpublish, to open its detail view.
- Click Unpublish.
How to Promote Custom Activities
You can promote a custom activity to increase partner adoption. Promoting the activity will pin it to the top of the Available Activities page when partners select a campaign and click Add Activity > Custom Activity in their partner portal. This ensures it is one of the first custom activities a partner sees when browsing that area in the partner portal.
To promote a custom activity in a campaign:
- Navigate to Partner Marketing > Custom Activities.
- Click the name of the custom activity you want to promote, to open its detail view.

Click Edit Details.

Enable the Is Promoted? setting.
- Add the Promotion Start and Promotion End dates. The activity will remain promoted within these dates.
- [Optional] Add a Promotion Description to add internal-facing information regarding the decision to promote this activity.
- Click Save.
How to Add Custom Activities to Campaigns
To add a custom activity to a campaign, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Partner Marketing > Campaigns.
- Click the name of the campaign to which you want to add custom activities, to open its detail view.

Click Add Content.
- Use the following features to find your custom activity:
- In Asset Type, select Custom.
- Filter on content tags using the dropdown menus on the left side of the window.
- Search for your custom activity using keywords.

Click Add next to the name of the custom activity you want to add.
- Click Close once you have added all the content you want. The screen refreshes to the campaign details view.
How to Archive, Unarchive, and Delete Custom Activities
Archiving custom activities removes them from your Active Activities list, saves them in your account, and allows you to delete them permanently. To archive or delete custom activities, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Partner Marketing > Custom Activities.
- Click the name of the custom activity you want to delete. The activity details view opens.

If the custom activity has been published, click Unpublish.
The Archive function is only available if the activity is unpublished.

Click Archive.
Archiving enables the Unarchive and Delete functions. The custom activity remains in your account until you delete it. If you only want to archive the custom activity and not delete it permanently, stop here.
- Click Delete to remove the custom activity from your account.
Unarchiving reactivates custom activities and enables publishing again. To unarchive custom activities, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Partner Marketing > Custom Activities.
- Click the name of the custom activity you want to unarchive. The activity details view opens.
- Click Unarchive.
You can now publish the custom activity or archive it again.
Bulk Update Custom Activities
Unifyr One's Bulk Update feature allows you to add/remove tags, configure partner filters, and set effective dates and status for multiple custom activities in a single action.
