Overview

Providing content in the preferred language of partners and prospective partners is a crucial factor in engaging with your partners and growing your channel program. By translating your partner portal into other languages, you ensure that partners can navigate the portal easily, and find and fully understand your content. Unifyr One supports delivering multi-language content seamlessly to partner portal users.

Unifyr One provides ready-to-use professional translations of native Unifyr One default navigation items, tooltips and copy on Feature Pages to allow you to deliver translated standard content easily.

You can use Unifyr One Admin to add translations for custom portal content:

  • Custom Pages
  • Portal Footer
  • Portal Posts
  • Terms & Conditions guidance text
  • Custom Fields and their values
  • Partner User Roles
  • Partner Events
  • Onboarding Plans
  • Tier Programs
  • Tags
  • Learning (LMS) Content

Alternatively, Custom Pages can be translated on-the-fly using our Automatic Page Translations feature (available to Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond customers). For more information, submit a request to your Unifyr One team.

Unifyr One supports these languages for the partner portal:

  • Arabic
  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Chinese (Traditional)
  • Czech
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • English (Default)
  • Finnish
  • French
  • German
  • Hungarian
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Norwegian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Portuguese (Brazil)
  • Russian
  • Slovak
  • Spanish
  • Spanish (Mexico)
  • Swedish
  • Turkish

In the partner portal, Unifyr One determines the appropriate language to show to a user based either on the last language used in the browser, or the set browser language. If neither of these two data points are available, the user will be shown the default (English) version. When a portal user selects a language for their profile, all of the visible text, including the menus and tooltips, will be displayed in the preferred language. Once you have translated the custom areas of your partner portal listed above, those will also display in the selected language.

Before You Begin

Familiarize yourself with how to manage your partner portal site’s configuration and navigation, including Feature Pages and Custom Pages.

Add the supported languages for the portal site (Partner Portal > Site Configuration > Settings > Site Details > Language) to support both core and custom content translation. For more information, see the Translate Portal Navigation and Feature Pages section of this article.

[Optional] You can restrict a custom site view to a subset of the supported languages. If you don't restrict the view, it will be available for all languages defined in the Site Settings.

Before you can create a translation of custom content, you must have created the item in the original language. The option to translate an item will not be available until after you do an initial save. The instructions below assume that you have previously created and saved each custom content item.

Translate Portal Navigation and Feature Pages

The first steps for translating your partner portal are to add the translations for your Feature Pages and to your partner portal navigation. These translations are provided by Unifyr One and will also cover translations of tooltips.

To add translations of navigation to the Unifyr One Partner Portal:

  1. Add the supported languages for the portal site
    1. Navigate to Partner Portal > Site Configuration.
    2. Click Settings.
    3. In the Site Details section, under Language, select the languages you want to add to the portal. English must be included. All Feature Pages and default areas of the partner portal will be translated into the languages selected here. You and your team are responsible for translating Custom Fields and Custom Pages.

    4. Click Save.

    1. Navigate to Partner Portal > Site Configuration.
    2. Select the custom view whose language support you want to update.
    3. Use the Edit icon icon_pencil_white.png  to open the View Details window.
    4. In View Details, select the required languages in the View Languages list.

      admin_portal_view_language

    4. In the dropdown, select the language into which to translate your site navigation.

In the partner portal, Feature Pages and standard navigation areas will automatically translate based on the language selected by the user. You don't need to do anything here to add translations for these areas:

      • Unifyr One Feature Page copy
      • Unifyr One default navigation items (i.e. titles of feature pages)

Note: If you have customized the name of a Feature Page, it won't be translated by built-in translation. You must add this translation yourself.

      • Names of Unifyr One standard information fields
      • Unifyr One dynamic content widgets, e.g. Login
      • Unifyr One tooltips

You are responsible for translating the titles of any Custom Pages in your site navigation here.

In your account, all page titles will show in your default language (usually English).

    5. Edit the navigation name for any Feature Pages that you have renamed from the default, to add the translated header. For example, you might have changed the name of the Portal Posts feature page to News in English. A non-default Feature Page title is not translated by Unifyr One's built in translation.

    6. Edit the navigation name for any custom headers you've added to your navigation.

Translate Learning (LMS) Content

All learning content pieces (Certifications, Courses, Modules, and Quizzes) can be translated in Unifyr One Admin.

For information about providing learning content, see About Learning Management.

This process describes how to provide translation of Courses/Certifications/Modules/Quizzes in a single language. You can translate into other languages by selecting the new language at the top of the Translations page (step 3) and repeating the rest of the process.

  1. Navigate to Partner Portal > Translations.
  2. Go to the LMS tab in the left sidebar.
  3. Choose the language for which you want to provide translations by selecting it in the English to… drop down menu at the top of the page.

The list shows all languages supported in Unifyr One. For translated content to be made available to your partners, you must specify which of these languages your portal will support in Partner Portal > Site Details > Language. For more information, see Branding, Languages and Other Settings for your Portal.

  5. Find the entry for the item you want to translate. Each entry displays the translatable areas they contain - what is available depends on the item’s configuration in Partner Management > Learning Management:

    • Name
    • Description

Alternatively, you can use the Translate All option at the top of the page to auto-translate all entries displayed in the page. Ensure that you click Save All once you’ve checked the translations. Note that Translate All will not re-translate entries that are already translated.

  6. Enter the translation for each piece of text for the item in the boxes provided. Click Not translated in the right-hand column to expose the box.
  7. Add the required translation. You can use the suggested translation if it's suitable.

Import Translations of Custom Content

Note

This bulk translate option is not available for Custom Pages or Portal Posts.

In the Partner Portal > Translations page, you can manage translations of these custom content types:

  • Custom Objects
  • Custom Fields and Forms
  • Tags
  • Terms and Conditions guidance text
  • Partner User Roles
  • Onboarding Plans
  • Tier Programs
  • Partner Events
  • Learning (LMS) Content

It may be that you use an external agency to provide your translations. You can export a file of custom content items, send it to your translators for translation (or re-translation), then import the file to translate the content items in Unifyr One Admin. Using this method, you can export all translatable custom content items for a particular language, then import their translations, with a minimum of steps.

To bulk translate your custom content:

  1. Navigate to Partner Portal > Translations.
  2. Select the language for which you want to export translations in the English to menu.

  3. Go to the Import/Export tab in the left sidebar.

    admin_translations_import_export.png

  4. Click Export. A CSV file titled Translations_Export_[LANGUAGE] is downloaded to your desktop.

The file includes these columns of information for each content item:

    • Object - Object being translated, e.g a display name or a value for a Custom Field (Field Definition), a Group for an Onboarding Plan (OnboardingPlanGroup)
    • Group - Object type, e.g DEAL or PARTNER for a Custom Field, ONBOARDINGPLANS
    • Item - Object name
    • Field - Item being translated, e.g. displayName for a Custom Field, name for an Onboarding Plan Group or Task
    • English - English text
    • Translation - Translation in the selected language (if a translation already exists, otherwise the column is empty)
  5. Add the translations as required to the Translation column, then save the file. Don't make changes to or in any other columns.

If re-importing translations, existing translations that aren’t included in the file are unaffected in Unifyr One. You can import a file with all rows removed except for new objects, or existing objects with updated translations.

  6. Navigate back to Partner Portal > Translations, and go to the Import/Export tab.
  7. Click Import.
  8. Select the CSV file in which you saved the translations. Don’t attempt to import a different file - the import may not be able to match translations with their correct content items.
  9. Click Import.
  10. Unifyr One gives a summary of the number of translations that will be imported/updated/removed, and shows any errors (entries that failed to match with an existing item in Unifyr One).

    admin_translations_import_summary.png

Click Download against any of the rows that have numbers to get a list of successful or unsuccessful translations. You can correct failed items in the download file as required, then re-import the file separately.

  11. Click Import to continue with the import.
  12. The import proceeds, then Unifyr One provides a confirmation of the translations it’s imported.
