About Success Plans

Overview

A Success Plan is an agreement between suppliers and partners regarding the achievement of sales, marketing, training, and custom milestones within a certain period of time. Success Plans are a critical factor in partner engagement and channel success, providing visibility to the supplier about the health and success of their partner community.

By developing a Strategy and Success Plan, goals are well-defined, metrics are trackable for both the supplier and the partner, and a consistent approach across all partners can be achieved. This transparency will benefit the relationship between the supplier and partner.

Success_Plans_Overview.png

Channel Account Managers (CAMs) can work with partners to create Success Plans on an annual basis. Suppliers can set and segment predetermined sales, marketing, training, and custom goals and customize annual and quarterly goal targets for each partner. Like all other elements in Unifyr One, Success Plan efforts should be closely aligned with your channel program objectives. You should aim to deliver a Success Plan that incrementally builds the partner's confidence and abilities to generate business.

Additional Information

  • You can create multiple Success Plans, each using a different Strategy, to support the needs of different partner groups.
  • A Success Plan is based on a Strategy. The plan is assigned to a specific partner. The list of available partners is determined by the partner groups assigned to the Strategy.
  • A Strategy is made up of multiple Goals. You can include Sales, Marketing, Training, and Custom goals in a Strategy.
  • When you've created a Success Plan with a Strategy, and assigned it to a partner, you configure the Success Plan to set the partner-specific targets for the Strategy's Goals. This way you can use the same strategy for all your partners, if required, but set different targets for each one.
  • Admin users can edit/remove goals and goal groups on a Strategy that is currently in progress.
  • The status of a partner’s Success Plan (active, ended, etc.) displays on the Success Plans page in Unifyr One Admin.
  • You can review a partner's progress against their Success Plan in two places in Unifyr One Admin:
    • By opening the plan from Partner Management > Success Plans

      admin_success_plans_plan_progress.png

    • In the Success Plans area of the partner's account in Partner Explorer

      admin_success_plans_account_progress.png

  • Suppliers can revise a partner’s goal targets within their Success Plan as things change during the year.
  • Success Plans are displayed to partners in the Partner Portal in a custom page. A partner can view their plan and their current progress against it.

    portal_success_plans.png

  • Portal users will see updates on their Success Plan progress if a supplier adds a new goal to an active Success plan. If the partner has made progress against that goal already, the progress made will be retroactively applied.
  • Success Plan Progress notification emails are sent automatically to Admins on the partner account once a month from the Start Date of the plan. Notifications will stop once the plan has ended.

Create a Strategy

Before creating a Success Plan for a partner, you must first create a Strategy. The Strategy acts as a reusable template with configurable goals that can be associated with specific partner groups. You can create multiple Strategies to support the needs of different partner groups.

The Strategy helps you scale your Success Plans so you can apply a consistent approach to planning across a large number of partners.

  1. Navigate to Partner Management > Success Plans.
  2. Click View Strategies.
  3. Click Create Strategy.

    Create_Strategy_Button.png

  4. Provide the following information:

    Parameter  Type  Description
    Name Text

The unique identifier for this Strategy.

For example, if this strategy is for North American partners in 2024, you could name it FY2024 North American Partners.

When this strategy is added to a Success Plan, this value forms the Success Plan title that the partner sees in the Partner Portal.

    Start/End Date

    Date

The validity dates for the Strategy (and the plan it's associated with).

Set the Start Date of the strategy.

[Optional] The partner groups with which to associate the Strategy.

When you create a Success Plan and include this Strategy, you will target the Success Plan to one of the partners in this group.

If you don't select a Partner Group here, the Strategy will be available for all your partners.

    Description Text

[Optional] More information about the Strategy.

The description is supplier-facing. It can be used to provide additional information for CAMs to effectively manage the
Strategy. This is especially useful if you have multiple Strategies.

Available Goals lists the Goals that can be added to the Strategy.

Plan Goals lists the Goals that have already been added to the Strategy.

A newly created Strategy includes a single Goal Group (labeled New Group, as shown below). You can rename it using the Edit icon_edit_grey.png button. You can also create more Goal Groups using the Create Group button.

    Create_Group_1.png

As you drop available goals into the Plan Goals panel, you will be shown any configurable options that need to be set. You can add a goal to a Goal Group multiple times and to multiple Goal Groups if needed.

    Drag_and_Drop_Goals.gif

When Goals are added to a Goal Group, you can rename them with the Edit icon_edit_grey.png button. This allows you to use consistent terminology with your partners.

    Edit_Goal_Names.png

These Goals are available (note that you add the actual target for each Goal in the partner-specific Success Plan in which the Strategy is included):

    • Approved Accounts - achieve a minimum number of approved deal accounts. The goal target will be a numeric value.
    • Approved Registered Deals - create a minimum number of approved registered deals. You can also specify the Deal Type and Product(s) here. Only deals matching the deal type and product(s) specified will contribute to a partner’s goal target.
    • Campaign Leads - capture a target number of leads using campaigns associated with specific tags set on your supplier-created Campaigns. These activities within a campaign count towards the leads for this goal: Ad Campaigns, Emails, Workflows, Microsites, Panels, Social Posts with Form, and Custom Activities.
    • Closed Won Total Deals Amount - close a total value of Closed/Won Deals. The goal target will be a numeric value and currency must be selected. You can also specify the Deal Type and Product(s) here. Only deals matching the deal type, currency, and product(s) specified will contribute to a partner’s goal target.
    • Completed Certifications - a target number of a partner’s users must have completed a specific certification in their Partner Portal.
    • Custom Partner Field (Numeric) - meet a target based upon any of the numeric Custom Partner Fields configured in your supplier account.
    • Registered Leads - obtain a target number of registered leads outside of campaign-generated leads. This goal counts contacts registered as leads or leads registered directly by the partner on their Success Plan in the Partner Portal.

Partners can view and track their progress against these goals on the Partner Portal.

Use this option when creating Success Plans for large partner groups. Instead of creating each Success Plan manually, you have the option to create Success Plans based on a single Strategy in bulk, for the partner groups associated with the strategy.
