About Partner Locators

Overview

Connect potential buyers with partners through Unifyr One's flexible find-a-partner service. By adding it to the Logged Out view of your Partner Portal or on your public website (recommended), potential buyers can search for a partner seller by geography,  partner tier, or other criteria, when they are researching products. Results are displayed according to relevance, based on partners' public profiles. Once the potential buyer submits information, the Partner Locator generates emails directly to the partner or creates Leads, via Unifyr One, providing value to the partner and traceability.

A Partner Locator displays a certain set of partners, defined by a Partner Group, and gives access to information such as their name, address or addresses, contact details, and the products/services they offer. A partner's entry can include a contact form, a link to their marketplace, and custom information such as case studies. The address/location information is taken from specified fields from the partner's Company Profile.

This is a summary of the process to add a Locator:

  1. Create a Partner Locator.
  2. Add the Partner Locator to the Partner Portal, your website, or both. This is an example of a Partner Locator on a Partner Portal:

    image__4_.png

To add a locator to the Partner Portal:

    1. Create a custom page with a Dynamic Content widget.
    2. Add the active custom page to the Partner Portal.
    3. Ensure that partner administrators keep their profile updated in the Settings > Company Profile area of the Partner Portal.

To embed a locator in a website:

    1. Copy the JavaScript code from the Locator Settings page.
    2. Paste the code onto the web page.

Creating a Locator

Locators are managed in Partner Portal > Locators. You can have multiple locators with different configurations.

  1. Navigate to Partner Portal > Locators.
  2. Click Create Locator.
  3. Complete this information as required:

    Field Name Description
Name The internal name for the locator.
Type The type of locator: choose Partner.
    Partner Groups

[Optional] The Partner Groups that define the subset of partners that are eligible for the Locator.

Click the field then select a group or groups from the drop down list. You can enter the group name in the Search field to filter the list.

If multiple partner groups are selected, the locator will show partners from all of them.

For information about managing Partner Groups, see About Partner Groups.

    Partner Name Display Field

[Optional] The name that each partner's card and map entry should display in the Locator.

You can choose one of these:

    • Internal Name
    • Partner Display Name
    • Any of your custom Partner fields (of type Text)

If you select a field here, and a partner's profile doesn't include a value for it, that partner's entry in the Locator will show the default partner name set in the partner account.

    Required Partner Details

[Optional] The information that a partner must have completed in their Locator Profile to ensure they appear in the Locator.

Select one or more of the properties to make them required.

    • Logo
    • Locator Profile
    • Website URL
    • Social Media URL - the partner can add one or more of Facebook X (Twitter) and LinkedIn
    • Marketplace URL

If a property is required, and a partner's profile doesn't include a value for it, that partner will not be listed in your Partner Locator, even if they match on Partner Group. As soon as they add the value, they will be dynamically added to the Locator.

Leave all options unchecked to accept all matching partners into the locator.

    Partner Tier program

[Optional] The Tier Program about which to display information in a partner's Locator entry.

If a Tier Program is selected, and a partner in the Locator is participating in that program, their current tier in the program will be displayed on their locator card.

Click the field then select a program from the drop down list. You can enter the program name in the Search field to filter the list.

For information about managing Tier Programs, see About Partner Tiers and Tier Programs.

    Filters

[Optional] The filters that will be displayed in the Locator to help prospective buyers tailor their search for relevant partners.

    portal_partner_locator_filters.png

    Country is always included.

You can select any of your custom Partner fields to be used as additional filters. For more information about managing custom Partner fields, see Custom Fields.

Filtering on the Partner Locator references the information the partner has entered for the selected fields in Settings > Company Profile. What they have access to can depend on the fields you've provided in the Company Profile Portal form (see Forms & Fields > Partner > Forms in Unifyr One Admin).

You as the supplier can also manage this information in Unifyr One Admin in Partner Management > Partner Explorer > partner > Partner Details View > Profile.

Click Filters then select a field from the drop down list. You can enter the field name in the Search field to filter the list.

The selected fields will be displayed in the Locator in the order in which they're listed here. Change the order by dragging and dropping the fields in the list.

If a field of Multiselect or Checkbox appears in the Locator, users can select multiple values on the filter. A partner will be returned as a result if they match ALL the values selected in the filter.

    Filter Position

The position at which the search and filter options should appear.

Top (default) - at the top of the Locator

    portal_partner_locator_locator_card.png

You can choose any of your custom Partner fields to display here, plus the partner's Locator Profile description. The card references the information the partner has entered for these fields in Settings > Company Profile. What they have access to can depend on the fields you've provided in the Company Profile Portal form (see Forms & Fields > Partner > Forms in Unifyr One Admin).

You as the supplier can also manage this information in Unifyr One Admin in these areas:

The selected fields will be displayed in the Locator Card in the order in which they're listed here. Change the order by dragging and dropping the fields in the list.

    Additional Fields on Details

You can choose any of your custom Partner fields to display here. The card references the information the partner has entered for these fields in Settings > Company Profile. What they have access to can depend on the fields you've provided in the Company Profile Portal form (see Forms & Fields > Partner > Forms in Unifyr One Admin).

    Marketplace Button Text

[Optional] The label for the Marketplace button in the partner's card, if the option is enabled (see Marketplace below).

The default label is Buy Now

Additional Features Select any of these additional options for the Locator:
    Map View

Whether to display the partners on a map as well as giving a list of their cards.

This view is recommended as it give users more context and visibility when searching for partners.

When this is enabled, a Google Maps view is added to the Locator. The partner’s address or addresses are geocoded onto the map.

For more information about geocoding, see the Geocoding section of this article.

For more information about the map, see the Sorting and Filtering in the Partner Locator section of this article.

    Partner Contact

Whether to display a Contact button in each partners' Locator entry.

Clicking the button presents the contact form, which the prospect can complete. The information from the form is sent to the partner as a lead of type Locator.

    Marketplace

Whether to display a button linking to the partner's Marketplace in each partner's Locator entry.

The default label for the button is Buy Now. You can customize the label in the Marketplace Button Text field.

The button links to the URL provided by the partner in the Marketplace URL field in Settings > Company Profile.

Profiles Whether to give users the option to view additional information about the partner by clicking on their entry.
    Custom Objects

Whether to include information from a Custom Object (custom information type) in the Locator.

If you enable this option, you can choose the Custom Object to use, and select the columns (fields) from that object to display.

  4. Click Save.

Partner Logos, Names, Address, Website, and Social Media

In addition to the fields of custom information provided in a partner Locator entry (see Create a Locator above), these details will be included if they're available for a partner.

Embedding a Locator on a Website

To embed a Locator on a non-Unifyr One portal or website, use its Javascript Embed Code. The code can be copied into another website to add the Locator to it, with no requirement to iframe the Locator in.

The embed code does not work on portal pages. Use the Dynamic Content widget instead. For more information, see the Adding the Locator to the Partner Portal section of this article.

  1. Navigate to Partner Portal > Locators.
  2. In the Locators list, find the Locator and click on it to access its details.
  3. Go to the Embed Code - JavaScript field. Use the Copy to Clipboard option to pick up the code.
  4. Paste the code to the required area on your website.

If you experience issues with positioning your Partner Locator on your site using the script tag in the embed code, try including this HTML code after the embed code.

Sorting and Filtering in the Partner Locator

These actions occur when a Partner Locator loads:

  • The Locator gets the user’s current location from their browser. The browser requests the user's permission to use it.
  • The Locator displays search fields and filter options:
    • Search - Search fields to allow prospective customers to search by the Partner’s name, address, state/province and/or country
    • The filters you've configured for the Locator. For more information, see the Creating a Locator section of this article.
  • If Map View is enabled, the Locator shows the 24 partners that are closest to the user’s current location.

Here is an example of a Partner Locator Map:

    locator-with-current-location.png

    Notes:

    • Users can enter a specific address or zip code in the Search field to find partners near a certain location.
    • The user can click the View results near current location icon icon_location.png next to the Search field to revert to searching from their current location.
  • If Map View is not enabled, the Locator uses the user’s location to set a default country filter, and shows the 24 closest partners, sorted alphabetically.
  • A Load more link is provided to get the next set of 24 partners.

Lead Communication Process

This is the process for communication/distribution of leads originating in a Partner Locator:

  • If a partner's entry in the locator includes a Contact option, and a user completes the contact form, a lead is generated in Unifyr One.

The form includes a message field that is passed to the partner in the Lead Notes, located under their Distributed Leads, and in the Lead Notification Email.

  • The lead is automatically distributed to the selected partner.
  • Unifyr One makes use of the standard Lead Distribution process, including an initial notification to the partner via email or messaging that the lead has been assigned to them. The partner user that is set to receive Default Lead Notifications will receive the email. Emails can also be sent to Sales Reps, if the partner has these set up. For more information, see Notification: Lead Distribution.
  • If Auto-Accept is enabled for leads, the lead is automatically accepted. For information on enabled Auto-Accept, see Configuring Auto-Acceptance for Leads (partner academy article).
  • If Auto-Accept is disabled for leads, the partner sees the lead in their Distributed Leads page, for acceptance/rejection. They then assign the lead to one of the users listed in their partner account.

Locator leads are created with a Lead Source of Locator. They're shown in Leads & Deals > Distributed Leads in Unifyr One Admin.

Geocoding

Geocoding is the process of converting an address into a set of coordinates, that Unifyr One uses to plot a partner on a map. The Google Map Geocoding API is used to do this.

Geocoding happens as a background process that runs every 2 hours, processing every partner that has had their address updated.

An address must include this information to be geocoded:

  • Country
  • City
  • Address 1 or Zip Code

Unifyr One will only try to geocode addresses for Partners that would be displayed by a Locator - if the Partner is a member of any Partner Groups that are selected for a Locator.

Important

There will be a delay between creating a Locator and the first geocoding of Partners.

The Partner Locator map is not shown when there are no Partners with coordinates.
